An Appropriately Spaced, Socially Distant, Walk Through Birthday Party

Second Birthdays. Things seem to change at this age – our little girl Aria is no longer a baby but is growing into a tiny person who is more independent with each passing day! Seeing the world through a two year old’s eyes as she works to develop her own opinions and personality is truly magical! We decided to give her the opportunity (with a wee bit of guidance) to choose the theme to her birthday party. We couldn’t contain our excitement when she chose ICE CREAM!

Aria’s birthday happened to fall during a global pandemic but we wanted to make sure our little girl knew how loved she is by our incredible village of friends and family members all while making sure we celebrated in a safe and responsible way. Our solution? An appropriately spaced, socially distant, WALK THROUGH birthday party!

First Stop: Ice Cream! We called in Nicki from Good Times Ice Cream to park her gorgeous, beautifully restored ice cream truck in front of our house. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and we would recommend having an ice cream truck at every event you host from now on! Next Stop: an incredible photographer to document the occasion. The incredible photos in this post were taken by the talented Amber Jane Photography and we were delighted by her calm, thorough, and professional approach to capturing our little girl on her big day!

These 6’ ice cream cones were placed on both sides of the ice cream truck and were completely made of balloons (right down to the sprinkles!)

Kids and adults alike could also wander through our shaded fairy gardens or pick out ice cream themed favors specially curated by Aria’s “Amma” (Grandmother). The walk through birthday party was a wonderful way to celebrate our daughter’s 2nd birthday during an uncertain time. Even if our walk through party was short, we were so grateful to be able to provide some normalcy, a little sunshine, a lot of laughter, and plenty of ice cream to our family and friends.
